Operation Noah

The Bright Now campaign uses grassroots action, targeted advocacy and education to call on UK and Irish churches to act now to build a future based on hope and not fossil fuels. Our divestment work is nearly complete, as almost all church institutions have now divested (as the Sheila McKechnie Foundation just recognised, when they named us Campaign of the Year for 2023). We want the church to demonstrate positive leadership in the national debate around climate change and the environment, not just through what they do not invest in, but also in their positive actions. To this end, we're now ramping up the other two strands of our work, calling on churches to use their assets, both financial and land, to invest in green solutions. Our Green Investment Declaration provides a pathway for institutions to grow their green finance investment. Other parts of our campaign involve advocating for church landowners to use their land in a way that actively promotes carbon sequestration, biodiversity and sustainable farming.
