Project aims
The Wallich Solutions Service is a drop-in centre for homeless people in Cardiff, particularly those with a street-based lifestyle. Information, practical, and trauma informed support, within a multi-agency approach, enables people to take their first steps out of homelessness.
Project description
As the leading homelessness charity in Wales, we supported over 7,000 people last year, often with complex need and difficulty accessing accommodation. Many have led very unsettled lifestyles and are often excluded or under-supported by mainstream services. We are driven by three core objectives: • Getting people off the streets • Keeping people off the streets • Creating opportunities for people Historically we have supported many whose lives are affected by entrenched homelessness, but we are now seeing more people experiencing homelessness for the first time, including people who are in employment but severely impacted by the cost-of-living crisis. We are currently supporting 68 rough sleepers in Cardiff, and 243 across Wales. We believe homelessness is about more than housing. All support is provided within a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) which considers peoples experiences before engaging with us. Co-designed with people we support to build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience, our services enable people to move on positively with their lives. Cardiff Solutions provides: • Budgeting advice • Benefits information • Securing and maintaining housing and other accommodation • Substance misuse referral • Mental health and wellbeing support • Access to showering and laundry • Access to provisions • Access to training, learning and development opportunities.
