Project description
India, has no doubt, made long strides in overall economic growth [GDP,PERCAPITA INCOME]life longevity and science and technology Development. But, this alone can not categorize a country, as a developed one. Inclusive growth, gender equality are the main factors, which are yet points of concern towards the road of reach. Industrialization has led to Urbanization, and due to migration of working population, rural sector has taken a severe beating. According to Mahatma, the father of our nation, the sole of India lies in villages. Though, our planners and leaders are giving adequate focus to this issue, the set back in Rural area is not being able to rise to the required level on account of following deficiencies. 1. Lack of adequate irrigation potentiality and dependence on erratic monsoon by the core sector, ie. Agriculture, which has led to non sustainability of activity and hence migration by the rural people to urban area. This has created a vicious cycle which affects both rural area by lack of work force and over crowding in Urban areas .This also has social and health implications which are additional challenges to the country. 2.Gender un equality, poor literacy level and lack of higher education to the so called Weaker section, ’THE WOMEN’ who are the back bone of rural India. 3. Poor Hygiene ,inadequate Health care, poor nutrition to pregnant women and infants which increases pre and post natal deaths in most rural areas. 4. Ecomic dependence of women on male counterparts, which again creates a vicious cycle of Women Development retardation. 5. Social evils like early marriage, crimes against vulnerable women. 6. Disintegrating Joint family culture. 7. In adequate care to old aged, and tendency to treat them as burden. In another couple of decades, this is going to blow up as a burning problem in our country. 8. Low level of rights awareness with the rural and more particularly with Women population. 9. Seepage in Government aids reaching rural areas and women en route. The above causes and consequent ‘RURAL DECLINE’ also causes social unrest and militancy, and no further we can be with lukewarm attitude/response.
