Reclaim the Power

Reclaim the Power is a UK-wide network fighting for social, environmental, and economic justice. We aim to build a broad based movement, working in solidarity with frontline communities to effectively confront environmentally destructive industries and the social and economic forces driving climate change. We have a decade-long track record of mass direct action and solidarity work with communtities both in the UK and worldwide. Biomass has been incorrectly and dishonestly presented as a form of renewable energy. One of them, Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire, is the UK's single largest carbon emitter. Despite this, they recieve over £600m a year in renewable energy subsidies from the UK government, and are applying for more under the pretext of an unworkable carbon capture scheme known as BECCS. We will hold a mass action camp from 8th-13th August 2024 targeting Drax Power Station (or infrastructure it relies on). We will take mass-participatory direct action against Drax, generate national news coverage, run dozens of talks and workshops on a range of social justice issues, train hundreds of people in their legal rights and non-violent direct action, and empower atendees to go back to their communties and create change.
