Project aims
Focusing on sustainability as a priority our estimated annual budget is £2,172.74 (Open Collective is our fiscal host and figures can be found there) Finance for campaigning and ongoing overheads and future projects.
Project description
We are due to launch a campaign challenging Avon and Somerset Police's use of the Think Family Education App in schools (abolition ) we also intend to raise awareness and demand regulation of the Offender Management App. Police have risk scored 250,000 people in Avon and Somerset with no accountability or transparency. We are working in a coalition of civil society organisations to challenge this predictive policing technology but will require funding for campaign material printing, venue hire, speaker bookings and travel costs. Our community meeting on the 27/7/24 is the campaign launch with Black South West Network and StopWatch as co-hosts. We do not need support for costs associated with campaign launch but it would be beneficial as the campaign progresses.
We also require funding for long term sustainability and future initiatives, projects and to let us plan ahead. Overheads include Dropbox our Zoom account, our WordPress website, funds for our casework team/ client support costs. A key long term objective is street monitoring of the police something we do reactively at present but would want to reach out and provide bystander intervention training / stop and search workshops locally and as we historically have done nationally. Funding lets us plan ahead and we are always busy!
