Project aims
The broader aim of the project is to address climate change and promote peace in Pakistan to promote environmental sustainability, strengthen community resilience, and foster peace and social cohesion through awareness raising, dialogue, and collaborative community engagement.
Project description
The project aims to address the two important issues often overlooked in Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan—climate change and social unrest. This isolated region is hit hard by environmental issues and societal tensions, and we believe we can make a difference through the Karakorum Integrated Rural Development Organization (KIRDO).
The project will implement community-driven strategies to build resilience against climate change. This includes planting trees, adopting sustainable land practices, and running education campaigns to reduce environmental damage and promote livelihoods that are in harmony with nature. By giving local youth the training they need in climate adaptation and advocacy, we are nurturing a new generation of climate champions ready to protect their environment.
Simultaneously, the project will create a more peaceful and united community. Through open dialogues, workshops, and activities that bring everyone together, we aim to break down barriers and promote understanding. These efforts are about reducing conflicts and fostering a shared vision of peace.
Our ultimate goal is to weave together climate action and peacebuilding to build a future that is both resilient and harmonious for Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan.
