Project description
Our project, "Promoting Sanitation and Sustainability in India," is a comprehensive ground assessment and review initiative, based and centring focus on various programmes and initiatives by the Government of India. Our work is centred on enhancing the capacity and livelihood of sanitation workers (SafaiMitras), empowering citizens, and nurturing youth-driven initiatives. SafaiMitras, confront multifaceted issues, from working in harsh conditions without access to protective equipment, employment stability, or healthcare benefits to degrading social stigmatization. We aim to bridge the chasm between local issues confronting SafaiMitras by empowering sanitation workers through capacity development, training, and the promotion of sustainable livelihoods, we endeavor to bolster their role in sustainable waste management. As we step forward, as an organization, expanding our horizons to reach many more marginalised segments of our society, working for sex workers and their rehabilitation aligned with education, health and a life of dignity, is one of our forthcoming drafted projects, as human trafficking, especially of girls, is a pressing issue in today’s time, in India. To conclude, our project is tailored to alleviate the lack of suitable living conditions and opportunities for marginalised segment in India. Through capacity enhancement and improved livelihoods, we intend to drive positive transformation for communities.
