This Girls CodeCamp project aims to train and equip a minimum of 30 young girls aged between 17 and 25 years across Cameroon to become computer programmers, creators and designers placing them on track to take up studies and carriers in the information, communication and technology (ICT), education and coding sectors.
Project description
The Girls CodeCamp project aims to train and equip a minimum of 100 young girls between the ages 17 and 25 years across Cameroon to become computer programmers, content creators and designers placing them on track to pursue studies and careers in the information, communication and technology (ICT), education and IT sectors. Young girls will be equiped with essential IT skills through a series of hands-on workshops. In particular, Young girls will be offered foundational knowledge in programming languages (e.g., C/C++, C#, Python, RStudio, VBA, Java), web development, digital literacy, financial technology [FinTech] and other relevant IT fields. The project will also enable us to create a supportive learning environment that promotes confidence and empowers young girls to pursue ICT careers. In addition, the project will promote mentorship and role models by involving successful women in the ITC sector as trainers and mentors, providing inspiration and guidance to participants. During the course of the project, a number activities will be conducted including needs assessment, workshop development, recruitment of participants, organization of CodeCamp workshops, mentorship program, and monitoring and evaluation.
