Project description
Good Botanics develop, make and distribute environmentally socially-conscious plant-based products to nourish and support the body, both for sale and distribution to vulnerable people in our community. “[The] remedies are practical, carefully considered, aimed at meeting the most immediate needs of the people they are providing for. Namely, but by no means exclusively, those with limited access to accommodation and quality healthcare.” Bloom Magazine GB grew out of the Mobile Apothecary project, to manage development of commercially viable products that could produce income capable of supporting and growing community wellbeing services. It integrates the founders’ professional skillsets, knowledge, training and networks and their mutual passion for environmental and community sustainability. Molly Maitland is a NHS podiatrist and medical herbalist with extensive experience working with herbs native to the UK and across Europe. Michael Smythe is an artist and urban farmer based in East London, where his work critically engages with issues of environmental and social justice within the city landscape. Funding is needed to transform GB from a handful of well-tested products to an income-generating enterprise to support and expand the Mobile Apothecary service and other community projects, working to a plan created with mentorship from the founder of Aesop.
