Project description
Relief international Africa launched a cutting-edge citizen-oriented in house Human rights project in Nigeria. (Human Rights Clinic) The pursuit of happiness has been inextricably linked with the enjoyment of fundamental human rights. Hence, the protection of human rights has become sine-qua-non to the preservation of human dignity in present day human society. Several treaties, conventions and laws have been enacted to promote human rights at the international level. Amongst these is the Universal declaration on Human Rights, African Charter on Human rights. Despite the existence of the above instruments aimed at an enhanced environment for the realization of fundamental human rights, rights and liberties of people have continued to be violated. These gross violations of human rights are responsible for the major threats to democracy today. While countries in the global north have reached advanced levels of human rights protection, countries of the global south are still struggling with basic enforcement of human rights protocols. We seek $50,000 to advance the Human right clinic work. The Human Rights Clinic project aims to address various human rights abuses in Niger Delta, on abuses committed by security agencies, documentation, domestic violence, alternative dispute resolution (ADR), and early warning system.
