Project aims
The project aims to bring together people of different ages experiencing inequality and empower them to campaign and take action together. We want to counter the narrative that generations are in competition with each and instead build intergenerational solidarity.
Project description
We have already worked with 3 groups in London made up of children and young people and older people in sheltered housing. These groups have identified areas they feel strongly about and worked together to take action, including creating a campaign video about the cost of living, raising money for youth homelessness, and gardening for the planet together.
We want to be able to be more ambitious with these groups, and support their visions of creating a better world together.
A Fast Track grant of £8000 would largely support the costs of running a year’s project, with regular monthly workshops and opportunities for the group to build their relationships and engage in ambitious campaigning and direct action.
With more support through a pool grant we could reach more people and operate with more sustainability. This security would help us encourage our groups to think bigger about how they could disrupt the wider narrative around ‘generational division’ and demonstrate through their shared commitment and action that each generation cares about more than themselves and their peers and that all ages benefit from living in a more just society.
