Project aims
In too many places globally, LGBTQ+ communities continue facing grave challenges and injustices. From discriminatory laws to horrific violence, basic human rights and dignities are continually denied to the LGBTQ+ community worldwide. This project aims to combat this.
Project description
We are in the process of preparing to host an International Human Rights Forum in June 2024. This event has been developed in collaboration with a dedicated volunteer human rights team who have worked tirelessly to create a forum that is intended to have a meaningful and engaging impact on both the community, allies and changemakers. The event will facilitate a wide-range of speaker and discussion topics, following on from last year’s virtual Human Rights Forum. This year’s event is the first in-person event being hosted to discuss International Human Rights within the LGBTQ+ community in London, the UK and the World. We are also seeking funding for the follow-on programme from this inaugural event. We want to showcase a wide range of voices within the LGBTQ+ community while also allowing a much needed discussion around human rights development to continue across the year. Currently, this event combined with the human rights agenda in general is steered solely by volunteers, who have to be recruited every year. We are seeking funding to be able to recruit for a paid full-time member of staff who will be able to steer and grow the human rights agenda.
