Project aims
By building an advanced mentoring platform, we aim to (1) reach more students in need, regardless of their geographic location or socioeconomic background, and (2) develop a sense of independence and ownership by equipping mentees with the necessary tools and knowledge.
Project description
There is an urgent need for comprehensive support for disadvantaged young people in navigating the complexities of higher education applications. Many students face significant barriers, including lack of access to mentors and guidance, limited resources and systemic inequalities that hinder their academic and career progression. With MentorMatch, we aim to address these challenges by developing a state-of-the-art platform that facilitates mentor-mentee matching, offers self-paced learning modules, and provides comprehensive college application assistance. This advanced mentoring platform will revolutionize our existing program. The platform enables seamless matching between mentor and mentee and uses a data-driven algorithm to match individuals based on their intended course of study, background and much more. It will also offer a comprehensive set of self-paced learning modules covering topics from preparing for standardized tests to resume writing. In addition, the platform will be a one-stop shop for students to access resources, connect with mentors, and track their progress through the application process.
