Project description
Future Trees Trust is a charity that has been working for over 30 years to promote resilient, healthy and productive woodlands by creating genetically diverse breeding populations of broadleaved tree species. We are the only Charity involved in this type of research for broadleaved trees. We have been offered the exciting opportunity by the National Trust to develop a National Centre for Future Trees Trust on the Buscot and Coleshill Estate in Oxfordshire and granted access to a 21 hectare National Trust site in nearby Uffington, which will be used for the planting of seed orchards and research trials. The project will comprise: 1. Planting of oak, sycamore, silver birch, hornbeam, beech and blackthorn research trials and seed orchards. 2. Relocation of Future Trees Trust offices to newly renovated premises. 3. Conversion of an existing building into a purpose built centre that will facilitate the sharing of ideas, research and information and provide an educational centre to raise public awareness. Project impacts: 1. Improved planting material. 2. Combat climate change. 3. More resilient trees. 4. Public education
