Project description
The "Swathya Samruddhi - EmpowerHer" project is a transformative initiative aimed at empowering women and promoting menstrual health and hygiene in Jalaun, Uttar Pradesh, with a budget of 15 lakhs and a target of 15,000 beneficiaries. Jalaun, a district in South Uttar Pradesh, faces several challenges related to women's health, including limited access to menstrual hygiene products and a lack of awareness about menstrual health and hygiene practices. The region's unique geographical features and a population of around 18 lakhs, predominantly residing in rural areas, make it an ideal location for this vital intervention. The primary objective of the project is to empower women in the age group of 12-45 by providing them with menstrual hygiene products and conducting awareness sessions. This will be achieved through street plays, community workshops, and the operation of a mobile audio-visual van, which will disseminate essential knowledge about menstrual health and hygiene practices. The project also includes targeted interventions in local schools and colleges, with a focus on reaching young girls and fostering healthy practices from an early age. The budget of 15 lakhs will ensure that 15,000 beneficiaries receive access to menstrual hygiene products and the knowledge needed to maintain their menstrual health. This project aligns with the vision of the Indian Government, UN recommendations, and the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to gender equality and women's health. The project's sustainability will be driven by community involvement, the formation of menstrual health committees, and training volunteers to continue these critical efforts, ensuring the long-term impact on women's health and empowerment in Jalaun.
