Project aims
To strengthen Rohingya genocide survivors' participation in international justice processes by advancing advocacy and networking, ensuring accountability for grave human rights violations, and placing survivors at the center of global efforts for justice and accountability.
Project description
This project aims to combat impunity for severe human rights violations against the Rohingya by elevating the voices and participation of women survivors in international justice processes. BROUK will strengthen advocacy efforts, particularly around the Universal Jurisdiction (UJ) case in Argentina, to hold perpetrators accountable. The project will facilitate advocacy trips to the United States, Switzerland, and Belgium, enabling UJ complainants and their legal representatives to provide updates on the case’s progress and discuss the implementation of arrest warrants. To ensure inclusive participation, BROUK will provide secure, remote engagement options for Rohingya women who cannot safely attend in person. These women will engage directly with key international stakeholders, including UN bodies, governments, and human rights organizations, through briefings, roundtables, and presentations. These events will empower women survivors to present their testimonies, advocate for justice, and influence decision-makers. By placing the voices of women survivors at the center of justice efforts, the project seeks to drive meaningful change and ensure that international accountability mechanisms reflect the lived experiences of Rohingya women and advance justice for the crimes committed.
