Project aims
The project aims to improve access to clean water and sanitation in the Kobuin community by constructing a borehole powered by a solar water pump.
Project description
The Kobwin community in Ngora District, Uganda, has faced significant challenges with water scarcity and sanitation. This community, primarily consisting of subsistence farmers and herdsmen, has seen many of its natural water sources disappear or become polluted due to climate change, bush fires, and deforestation.
A project to be led by Pamo Volunteers Limited aims to address these issues by constructing a borehole powered by a solar water pump, planting water-providing trees, and raising awareness about proper hygiene and sanitation.
This initiative will greatly benefit around 1,000 people, including many women and children who previously had to trek long distances to find clean water.
The project will not only provide clean water but will also improve the overall health and school attendance of the community members. It’s a great example of how a targeted intervention can make a significant difference in the lives of indigenous communities.
This project will be implemented within twelve months.
