Project description
In this project, we will be focusing on promoting the rights of non-religious believers and Humanists in environmental conservation in Mbarara City through a multifaceted approach that includes campaigning, education, intervention, and welfare/support initiatives. Campaigning and Advocacy: We will launch a comprehensive awareness campaign to highlight the contributions and perspectives of non-religious believers and Humanists in environmental conservation. The campaign will utilize various media channels, including website development, you tube, social media and TV engagements to reach a broad audience in Mbarara City. The messaging will emphasize the importance of inclusivity and collaboration, showcasing how diverse individuals can come together for a common cause – protecting the environment. Education and Workshops: Our project will organize a comprehensive workshop, focusing on environmental issues from a secular perspective. This educational event will be conducted in collaboration with local educational institutions and secular organizations. We will engage expert speakers to present scientific evidence on environmental challenges and explore rational, ethical approaches to conservation. The goal is to empower non-religious believers and Humanists with knowledge and tools to actively participate in conservation efforts. Intervention and Sustainable activities: We will actively engage in conservation activities and sustainable activities within Mbarara City. This will include tree planting initiative, waste collection and management event. By involving non-religious believers and Humanists in hands-on activities, we aim to create a sense of ownership and responsibility for the local environment. Café meet ups/ dialogues: To foster collaboration and understanding between different belief systems, we will organize interfaith meet ups/dialogues focusing on environmental conservation. These dialogues will provide a platform for open discussions, where participants will share their perspectives and values related to nature and the environment. The goal is to find common ground and explore shared values that can guide collective conservation efforts.
