Project aims
That all young people learn about the events, causes and consequences of 9/11 and subsequent terrorist attacks in an attempt to create a better, more peaceful and cohesive future.
Project description
It is our mission to ensure that all young people learn about the events, causes and consequences of 9/11 and subsequent terrorist attacks. We seek to build a peaceful, cohesive future for all, in which differences of opinion or belief, which are natural in a diverse, pluralist society, are addressed through respectful dialogue, not acts of violence and hate. We want to broaden our reach and deepen our impact by increasing the number of opportunities for direct delivery at the schools that cannot afford the cost. We want to ensure we can respond to the requirements of those whose who need our help the most. Our expert facilitators will tailor each session according to the individual school’s situation, exploring themes such as terrorism, extremism, radicalisation and developing the resilience building skills needed to reject hatred and violence. Through our workshops, students will discuss and debate the impact of extremism and terrorism, historical and contemporary issues, in a space where more extreme views may be expressed and challenged. It is through intercultural dialogue that we will explore various cultural and political perspectives, problematise extremist viewpoints and develop those important critical thinking skills to spot the signs of manipulation.
