Project description
The Project initiative was developed from the Climate Smart Approach practices and technologies to share experiences and further the flexibility of women / youth to promote activities that limit greenhouse gas emissions while adopting new, proven Climate Smart Agriculture technologies in Kasangati Town Council an Urban/ Peri Urban area located in Wakiso the most populated District of Uganda.
The overall objective of the Organization is to reduce poverty as a result of increased income derived from the livestock/ poultry farming sector thereby improving women and youth income side with their livelihood. The specific objective of the project is to provide a clean and affordable energy solution to the women and youth, reducing their reliance on traditional energy sources like firewood and charcoal while mitigating the environmental impact. This will enhance energy security and resilience by diversifying the energy mix with reliable and sustainable fuel sources. The estimated project cost is USD 122,019 financed by a Grant from the Network for Social Change which will cover capacity building, essentials, materials and equipment for the project within two years.
The project will be managed by a women / youth piloted Steering Committee which will report to the Community Based Organization Executive.
