Project aims
To eradicate gender inequality in the UK
Project description
Women and girls face issues in 2024 that affect their health, safety and equality - from disparities in health, to rising violence, domestic abuse and street safety. Yet in 2021, just 1.8% of total grants made in the UK went to charities which exclusively support the needs of women and girls. Rosa exists to redress this balance. The most effective solutions are delivered by grassroots female-led organisations, who through gender-specific work are able to build women’s and girls self-esteem, happiness, and chances of success. Whilst they tend to be the most innovative and focused on the root causes of a problem, they’re also least able to connect with philanthropists in the way that larger charities can. This is especially true for women with intersecting marginalised identities, especially Black and minoritised women. Through a mix of grant making, training and development and collaborating with other grant makers, Rosa’s mission is to see an increase the funding which goes to charities run by women, for women and girls. Ultimately, we want to leverage social change, through both legislation and resourcing. Grant making in 2024 is challenging. We’d love to connect with you to find a better way of gathering and distributing resources.
