Project aims
The broad aim of the Sugar-Daddy No More Project in Liberia is to combat the exploitation of young girls by older men through awareness, education, and economic empowerment, fostering safer environments and promoting gender equity and self-reliance.
Project description
The Sugar-Daddy No More Project in Liberia aims to address the exploitation of young girls by older men, often referred to as “sugar daddies,” through a holistic approach focusing on awareness, education, and empowerment. This harmful practice exposes girls to sexual abuse, early pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and limits their educational and economic prospects. The project will engage local communities in awareness campaigns to highlight the dangers of these exploitative relationships, challenge harmful cultural norms, and advocate for the protection of girls' rights. Through school-based programs and community outreach, girls will receive education on sexual health, consent, and their legal rights, empowering them to make informed decisions. Additionally, the project will offer vocational training and economic empowerment opportunities for vulnerable girls, providing them with the skills needed to achieve financial independence, thus reducing their vulnerability to exploitation. Local leaders, parents, and educators will be engaged as key stakeholders, fostering community responsibility in creating safer environments for girls. By combining advocacy, education, and economic support, the Sugar-Daddy No More Project aims to create lasting change in how girls are valued and protected in Liberia, ensuring a brighter, safer future for them.
