TMT has been delighted to support NSC in funding movements. We have acted as the charity ‘sponsor’ for two excellent UK based movements receiving a grant from NSC: Wild Card and Common Languages. By using TMT, NSC can fund non-charitable movements but retain tax efficiency. Philanthropists that recognise the value of social movements and actively fund them are too rare . Too many barriers exist in grantmaking, meaning new and informal movements struggle to access their first grant, and risk failure even when they are mobilising effectively in support of their objectives. TMTs exists to amplify and support community organisers and movements who are working to achieve a ‘Just Transition’ both in the UK and the global majority world - particularly by unlocking funding for them through our charity ‘partnering’ - known as ‘fiscal sponsorship’, and our creative regranting services. In only two years, with low overheads, we have unlocked nearly £1m in funding for movements, fulfilling our mission to ‘move more funding to movements’. We also provide support, access to pro bono legal advice and training to help movements thrive. We are small, with low overheads, in order to channel maximum funding to movements, but do need our core operations funded.
