Project aims
Educational and mentoring programmes to tackle period poverty and the environnmental impact of traditional period products.
Project description
intheflow are a social enterprise from Brighton, disguised as a premium, sustainable period brand.
Our mission is to tackle period poverty through a buy-one-give-one model and fundraising efforts, and to raise awareness around the environmental impact of traditional period products through educational visits and demonstrations.
A single menstrual cup can be reused and last for up to 10 years. In comparison to pads and tampons in the same time frame, someone is estimated to over 5,000 units, which are 90% plastic and take from 500 - 1,000 years to break down.
It's an environmental nightmare, that sees over 2 billion tampons flushed down UK loos each year.
200,000 tons of period waste from the UK alone ends up in landfill, in our oceans or on our shores. That's 87% of period waste due to inappropriate waste collection and disposal.
We are using our product and brand as an opportunity to demonstrate climate activism, people before planet and purpose driven career paths.
We aim to inspire, empower and champion young people to lean in to their purpose, to help them quantify their impact and help them reach their full potential.
Our donations are made to low income communities, foodbanks, homeless shelters...
