Douzan Art and Culture launched in 2019 to enable Syrians to build their contemporary cultural identity through preserving cultural memory, providing spaces for interaction, building capacities, and enhancing solidarity and cooperation to build our cultural future between heritage and modernity.
Project description
Alkhashabeh Program combines three key aspects: documentation, interaction, and empowerment, through enabling Syrians to have a grip around their scattered theatre that is full of historical gaps, Alkhashabeh aims to promote free expression as an essential human right, focusing on youth inside and outside Syria.
Tell Me About My Homeland is a project within Alkhashabeh Program. In this project, Syrian youth increase their capacity to write their own stories and reflect the Syrian narrative from different perspectives, with the aim of promoting free expression as an essential human right. In addition to enhancing awareness of free expression through interacting with the Syrian audience within different performance of stories that written by the project’s participants.
Project Objective: promote free expression as an essential human right within the Syrian youth and provide them with writing skills as a tool to express themselves.
Specific Objectives:
- Empowering Syrian youth to freely express their thoughts and opinions.
- Providing Syrian youth with playwriting skills, enabling them to express themselves and their experiences in a creative and artistic manner through theatrical texts.
- Enhancing awareness of the importance of human rights and freedom of expression and the necessity of respecting these rights.
