Project aims
The project's aim is to expand our support for Eastern European migrants in overcoming assimilation struggles through counselling, group therapy, and support groups, addressing immediate crises and long-term recovery. Expansion will help more individuals and families achieve stability and well-being.
Project description
We are a grassroot charity, grown from the community. All of our support group facilitators are volunteers, who have benefitted from our services in the past and decided to contribute to the effort themselves. Our main objective is to help members of our community overcome struggles, such as addictions, depression, domestic abuse, and homelessness, emerging from difficulties they experience during assimilation. Our main activities include counselling, group therapy and support groups for Eastern European migrants, struggling with social integration and resorting to unhealthy and unhelpful coping mechanisms. We are currently running 11 support groups - 8 entry level groups to address their current crisis and stabilise their lives and 3 therapy groups focusing on long-term recovery by eliminating the root cause of their issues. We have noticed an uptick in our service demand and are looking to expand our team and the amount of support groups we offer. We are starting a 3-year project in November 2024 dedicated to the expansion. Our aim is to reach out to people in need as early as possible and support them through the assimilation process. We strive to reach those that have strayed and help them untangle themselves, which helps them and their families.
