To combat School Pregnancies, Early and Forced Marriage (SPEFM) in refugee host communities in Tanzania
Project description
Tanzania has been implementing re-entry policy for girls who dropped schools due to pregnancies, to go back to school after delivery of babies, through established remedial centres which are operated at the formal structures, but the learning outcomes of teen mothers have been challenged by irregular attendance due to lacking transport fare to reach at the centres and commitments of caring for their babies. The project will address the above context through: Localizing the Fight; conducting online Remedial Sessions; economic Empowerment. OBJECTIVES: 1 TO establishing a base of 276 community members, from among teen mothers who completed secondary education, to champion on advocating for zero SPEFM in refugee host communities 2. To strengthen the learning process for 552 teen mothers who are based in refugee host communities, facing a challenge of irregular attendance at remedial centres for secondary education due to commitments of caring their babies and lacking transport fare 3. Economic empowerment of a base of 276 refugee host community members who advocate for zero SPEFM to generate income for sustainable support of remedial education of teen mothers
