Project description
Access to WASH to schools in Fundong council area of the North West Region of Cameroon is a critical challenge as communities rely on swallow Wells and polluted Brooks as sources of water.
Girls stay at home to fetch water for their families and loosing their education. They travel for 2km to fetch water in the nearby Brooks and are exposed to sexual harrassement and reptile attacks
There's general lack of toilet infrastructure and sanitation. Open defecation in the nearby bushes is common.
Scarcity of WASH in schools and communities is responsible for killer diseases of typhoid, Malaria, Diarrhea that are responsible high infant mortality .
This project seeks to build 02 gender- sensitive toillets,02 boreholes with solar pumps in 02 selected schools in Ngwah and Ntehgum communities in Fundong council area of the North West Region of Cameroon.
The project if successful will:
- Reduce child mortality
- Reduce inequality in education.
- Reduce poverty.
- Reduce gender violence and climate change
