Empower refugee women-led and LGBTIQA+ organisations with resources to address community needs, and facilitate sharing of best practices and lessons learned with key stakeholders via the Reframe Network platform
Project description
Refugee-Led Organizations (RLOs) are crucial responders in displacement crises, yet they receive less than 1% of global refugee funding, according to the 2023 Global Humanitarian Assistance report by Development Initiatives. Funders face challenges such as lack of awareness, organizational capacity, due diligence, and evidence of effective interventions. Women-led RLOs are further hindered by cultural norms and stereotypes that limit their recognition as community change-makers. Addressing these issues is crucial to shifting the narrative and ensuring equitable support for women-led RLOs. To address these challenges, Cohere and a coalition of partners developed the Reframe platform (www.reframe.network). This innovative approach aims to localize humanitarian efforts and shift power within the refugee response sector by resourcing initiatives led by marginalized community-based RLOs. We intend to empower women-led and gender-diverse RLOs with necessary funding and capacity-strengthening resources covering topics like project management, fundraising, and safeguarding. They will receive flexible funds to implement thematic programs meeting their communities' needs. The evidence and impact of these interventions will be shared via the Reframe platform to promote learning, collaboration, and networking among women-led RLOs.
