The displaced Yazidi community in Turkey, victim-survivors of the 2014 genocide, are living in extremely harsh and high-risk conditions for over a decade, lacking access to basic needs and legal protections, both locally and internationally, resulting in systemic marginalisation and exploitation. - Restricted from access to local basic support services, including education and health. - Restricted from access to register with UNHCR international protection program for resettlement. - Forced to work informally, resulting in below minimum wages and illegal working conditions. - Cannot access services to support recovery from ongoing trauma resulting from the 2014 genocide. - Increasingly high risk of deportation back to Iraq, with many families facing imminent illegal refoulement. - Women and girls are exceptionally vulnerable to SGBV. Our project aims to combat these issues through providing both regular in-kind material support (food, clothes etc), and engaging in advocacy and lobbying efforts, to achieve protection and justice for genocide victim-survivors, particularly women and girls facing SGBV. We are lobbying for expedited international resettlement, and working with local partners to protect against deportation. We work to amplify Yazidi voices to raise awareness, and collaborate with partners to demand accountability for perpetrators and prevent of future genocides and atrocities.
