Project aims
Piloting our re-granting programme using a new community decision-making app (the wellbeing protocol) that will allow a cohort of approx 500 young climate leaders to make funding decisions between themselves.
Project description
We are establishing a pooled fund for those that attended the Climate Justice Camp [https://www.climatejusticecamp.com/] hosted in Lebanon this August. The cohort of beneficiaries includes: 100 countries represented, 97% from the “Global South”, 75% under 30 years old, 72% female or non-binary, Project reach across all 17 SDGs. The Movements Trust is a proud intermediary supporting grassroots changemaking through fiscally sponsoring movements and re-granting from larger sources. We are pushing the boundaries on ‘participatory grantmaking’ by piloting processes and sharing our learning across the sector. We have secured £7,500 / £50,000 and are seeking partners to help ensure the pilot has a healthy starting pot. The app is built by nonprofit leaders, it’s free to use and available in all countries. We’ve been invited to pilot it whilst it’s in the soft launch stage and feedback our experience. The fund will be distributed in the New Year, empowering leaders from across the world to jump straight in creating the sustainable and just future they deserve. We will collect impact stories to present at the 2024 Climate Justice Camp, and an open-source learning report will be shared with all partners of the pilot pooled fund.
